Day 18: Ubatuba to Paraty – A Charming Colonial Town

After leaving the flooding in Ubatuba behind I was stopping along my way to Paraty along pretty beautiful beaches in the state of Sao Paulo. Unfortunately…

the weather was not so nice but I gained a glimpse of what it could be like at a sunny beach day 🙂

Arriving in Paraty after a couple of hours I found a little paradise. Compared to other cities in Brazil this little charming coastal town was absolutely a surprise…

Luckily it did not rain anymore and I arrived pretty early in the afternoon at the old Portuguese colonial center of the 17th and 18th century.

After I checked in into a beautiful hostel I decided to walk through the cobblestone streets of the town and enjoyed the special atmosphere of the old buildings and narrow alleys.

It got soon pretty dark and the lights of the town were reflecting in the paddles of rain water on the ground, creating a very special moment.

Plenty of bars, restaurants and art galleries are making it a pleasure to explore this colourful heaven which is backed by mountains on Brazils costa verde.

By surprise I realized there was even a beer festival ongoing and plenty of Brazilian bands were giving their best to entertain the crowds. Since Sao Paulo and staying with my German friends I felt in love with Brazilian music 😀

Brazilians just know how to enjoy life (this I already knew by heart after the carnival, lol)
