Day 105: Cafayate to La Rioja – Another Broken Pannier

Continuing our ride on the famous Routa 40 and some bad gravel we made actually nice progress until…

I felt something weird happened to my bike. Not very long thereafter I saw Gerardo driving next to me and giving me signs to stop. “Did you not hear me blowing the horn like a crazy?”, he asked me. No, why? Just look at your back wheel…

Suddenly I realised what happened. My fu+%ing Givi support broke again and my side pannier kissed the asphalt of the road, leaving some nice sparks behind for Gerardo’s “surprise”.

Not only did I damage my pannier but also my tire which got shaved by the metal of the support. What a bad quality!!!!! I could not believe it…

Together we fixed the pannier with my spare elastic straps and could thankfully make it to the next town of Rioja where we were supposed to meet one of Gerardos motorbike friends.

He offered us shelter for one night and he also had a friend who luckily was mechanic and welded the broken part the same evening. I was very lucky and thankful that we could continue our journey already the next day.
