Trying to escape the Patagonian winds, we got up the next day as early as 6 o’clock just to realise the winds got even stronger than all days together before. LOL. It did not help… After a short breakfast we packed our stuff and were shortly after 8 am on the road and entered on gravel roads the Torres Del Paine National Park…
Each day without rain was a great day and we were lucky, it was not raining today 🙂 However, it was unfortunately pretty cloudy and the sky would only show from time to time its pretty blue. Comparable to El Chalten the weather really made all the difference and I was afraid we would not be able to see Torres del Paine.
The Entrance
Arriving at the information centre we were not the first visitors and tons of tourists were already queuing up in order to purchase one of the entry tickets. Luckily we did not have to queue up as well since we were traveling alone and were not part of a big tourist group…
After a couple of kilometres already we could see the magnificent mountains of the national park, covered partially in clouds like a giant who was still covered with his blanket. The rock formations were extraordinary and I have barely seen anything so beautiful in my life before. Just overwhelming!
Driving through the park was insane… amazing landscape… amazing nature, green grass and colourful flowers… along intensively shining blue and turquoise glacier lakes I enjoyed every single moment. Torres del Paine is just a must see and next time I will do for sure the W trek which is apparently one of the highlights in the park.
However, arriving later on the same day in Puerto Natales which is a nice town at the sea we were struggling to find an appropriate accommodation which was affordable. In the end I decided to stay at a cheap hostel (I was feeling guilty to have spent so much money on food the last days) while Joao and Alica decided to stay somewhere else.
I prepared some nice pasta, had a beer and listened to nice music in the evening. It was great to have some me time again and went early to bed in order to be ready for an early start again.
